Stone has always been relegated to on-grade patio applications. Their weight and the complications of installation made their consideration beyond reach. With the introduction of thin gauged stone or porcelain tiles, weight was still an issue. Traditional installation methods required a complex installation of dry or wet packed cement beds or thin poured concrete and a variety of thin-set and mortar bonding agents. Along with the weight, there is still the nagging issue of dealing with moisture penetration, cracking and breaking from freeze-thaw expansion and contraction.

The GratedeX® Outdoor Floor System™ has changed all of that. The process is easier, lighter and dependable. This outdoor floor decking installation for thin gauged stone and tile is rock solid. The GratedeX® underlayment panel is a structural decking underlayment that's free-draining and inert to moisture. It provides a solid support surface for thin gauged stone or tile. This and other surface materials are bonded to the underlayment with the Hold-Tite® adhesive providing a permanent flexible attachment. Open joints between stone or tile allows for surface drainage.

In addition, paver grade material can no be placed on above ground decks with some structural modification to support the additional load. But with the strength of the GratedeX® structural underlayment panel, supporting all types of modular pavers in a dry-laid installation is now possible.
